The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The newest action-packed title that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for delighting in action and madness with similar glee, all while telling engaging, politically driven stories. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two creators whose projects have represented all of those elements.

About the Series

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game property, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by introducing a fresh setting and group of personalities in each season.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.

“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team continues to lift me up with their ongoing confidence and support.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every instalment is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To create a big action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this multifaceted and turbulent lens, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and present our mutual unconventional, daring sensibility to the screen.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
