Supporters Call for Arrest of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the actress are urging that a person who breached a barricade and grabbed the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A circulating video depicts the Australian man shoving aside photographers and charging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a promenade accompanied by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being taken in", though official papers revealed that he was scheduled to be present on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Record of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile features recordings of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney show in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is clearly a legal violation," commented an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Voice Worry Over Grande's Past Trauma
Many fans criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented one more message on Instagram.
A number of attendees also questioned event staff at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while others called for social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In videos shared widely, Grande looked surprised when she was approached by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Many of supporters had congregated in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had queued for as long as many hours before it began.
The film, to be launched on 21 November, is the sequel of a dual adaptation of the well-known stage show Wicked, which centers on the unlikely relationship between two distinct witches.
The musical itself is a derivative of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful movie of 2024 in the UK, and received ten Academy Award nods, earning a pair for outstanding attire and set decoration.
