Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his future after another convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got plenty of backing from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory naturally but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I feel the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

The manager lamented recurring shortcomings from his team in their European loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to the top, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
