Heavy Precipitation Aggravate Situation for Evacuated Palestinians in Gaza, Agencies Alert
Persistent rains over the last seven days have worsened the already dire circumstances of the hundreds of thousands of displaced residents in the Gaza Strip, as stated by aid organizations.
"Awful" Conditions Poses Grave Risks
A spokesman detailed the recent storm as "awful", with rain so heavy that as much as 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the terrain.
"The recent weather was exceptionally difficult for the residents. The storms were so strong... And the winds were so strong," stated the spokesperson.
Officials express extreme concern that children sheltering in tents in soaked garments will contract hypothermia and other sicknesses.
Fatalities and Significant Damage
The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has passed away from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have died in roof cave-ins triggered by the severe weather.
Further statements suggest a greater death toll. Authorities stated that numerous residential buildings had totally fallen and scores had sustained partial collapse.

Relief Distribution Deemed Inadequate

"Officials are operating tirelessly to bring in that assistance and to allocate it, but the scale of the requirements is so enormous that we still have thousands of families and children who are really enduring hardship each evening," cautioned one spokesperson.

Relief groups have highlighted the necessity for "greater and continuous humanitarian assistance to address immediate and ongoing needs."
